Ethiopia / AU: Africa seeks new solutions

The African political leaders, including the Angolan President, João Lourenço, will discuss and approve important diplomas for the continent's self-affirmation during its 30th Ordinary Summit, which will focus on corruption.
The meeting taking place under the theme “winning the fight against corruption: a sustainable path to Africa's transformation”is awaited with great expectation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as it is happening in an adverse political context for the continent.
The Summit comes at a time of political upheavals in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and of instability in the Central African Republic and South Sudan, among other problems to which efficient and long-lasting solutions are expected.
In the social field, two issues in particular will be on the rise at this summit: corruption and emigration, which greatly limits the continent's progress.
According to data, Africans accounted for 14 percent of a total of 258 million registered migrants worldwide in 2017.
As for corruption is an evil spread around almost all of Africa, with seven of its states among the 10 worst position in the world ranking of the Transparency International, in 2016.
This phenomenon represented losses of one trillion dollars in the last 50 years, and 60 percent was due to aggressive tax evasion by multinational corporations.
