Ethiopia: UN demands fulfillment of agreements on climate change

Addis Ababa, ANGOLA, January 29 - The United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres, demanded in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the developed countries to fulfill their commitment to mobilize by 2020 the amount of USD 100 billion per year in support of the developing States. ,

The UN official, who was addressing the 30th Ordinary Session of Heads of State and Government of the African Union set to end this Monday, explained that the refereed amount will be channeled to fight climate changes and global warming.

According to António Guterres, African countries contribute very little to the global warming, but they are the ones who pay the highest price with this phenomenon. 

The United Nations Secretary General stressed that the climate changes also has serious implications in the ambit of peace and security.

The 30tth Ordinary Summit of AU Heads of State and Government is taking place under the motto “Winning the fight against corruption: a sustainable path to Africa's transformation”.
