Ethiopia: President and counterparts talk about Great Lakes
Addis Ababa, ANGOLA, January 29 - The issue of instability in the Great Lakes Region and the study of the African Union (AU) dominated on Monday in Addis Ababa, consultations of the Head of State, João Lourenço, with counterparts and leaders of the continental body.,
The Angolan President, who plans to leave the capital of Ethiopia today, after attending the 30th Ordinary Session of the AU Heads of State and Government, discussed the situation in the Great Lakes with Congo counterpart Dennis Sassou Nguesso.
At the end of the meeting, Sassou Nguesso told the national press that Angola and his country have an age friendship relationship that forces the permanent evaluation of the region's burning problems.
He reported that the two statesmen had addressed the business of the two states, but the problems of the Great Lakes were the main subject at the table.
He said that during the meeting, he sought to better know some dossiers that the Angolan President has, as the former chair of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region.

Even today, the Angolan President participated in a Troika with South African counterparts Jacob Zuma and Uganda's Yoweri Museveni. The topics covered were not revealed.
Prior to the meeting, João Lourenço met with the High Representative on the Financing of the African Union's Peace and Security Fund, Donald Kaberuca, who told journalists that they had an "interesting" meeting.
However, this morning the Angolan President participated in some plenary sessions of the 30th Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the AU, which analyzed various comments, especially on Peace and Security.
The summit has been held since last Sunday under the motto "Winning the Fight Against Corruption: A Sustainable Way for a Transformation of Africa."
